The Fastest One Click
Measurement System for Cable Insulation & Sheath Thickness

Save Raw Material Cost

Raw material forms a major chunk of the input costs of cable manufacturing. Reducing even a small percentage of these raw materials can translate to savings of thousands of dollars each year. The big trade off for the cable companies is to keep the material minimum so that the costs are controlled and on the other hand keep the minimum thickness more than the statutory requirements.

Accurate Measurements

For this to be possible, exact measurements of the insulation thickness measurement is very important. This is where our product Cable Quickie – the most accurate and the quickest cable insulation thickness measurement system on earth comes into play. It probes 10,000 points across the insulation cross section to calculate the minimum thickness with virtually ZERO operator skill and that too in less than a second.

3 Second Measurement

From placing the sample onto the work stage to generating reports it takes less than three seconds, which is very useful in high throughput labs where large number of samples are to be measured on a daily basis.

Measurements as per
IEC 60811-201
and IS 10810 PART6

The IEC 60811-201 and IS 10810 PART6 standards covers measurement of thickness, overall dimensions and determination of mechanical properties of insulating and sheathing compounds. SIPCON's Cable Quickie measures cable insulation thickness as per the guidelines laid down in the standard.

Also, the sample has to be placed in a standard ambient temperature environment for at-least a few hours to eliminate changes in dimensions due to external environmental conditions.

The IEC 60811-201 and IS 10810 PART6 standards standard lays down guidelines to prepare the sample from the test piece so as to standardize the measurement procedure. This stage is very important as an improperly prepared sample will undermine the testing procedure and the measurement results. Generally a thin, flat sample with all the layers, markings intact is required for insulation thickness measurements and  dumb-bell or tubular test pieces are required to be prepared for determination of mechanical properties. The procedures for ageing the sample are specified in IEC 60811-201 standards. In addition to this standard Cable Quickie can measure and report parameters as per any of the 17 standards being used worldwide for cable measurement.

Sadashiv Patil AGM, RR Kabel

"“We needed an offline insulation thickness measurement system for our new high voltage cables unit and Cable Quickie was just right for the job. It has better speed and measurement accuracy compared to our existing systems in the old low voltage unit and costed us one-third its price. We highly recommend Cable Quickie for insulation thickness quality control in a cable manufacturing plant.”"

Nihar Malik Quality Head, Anchor

"“Measuring insulation thickness of two concentric colors was a major challenge and our existing systems were unable to meet the requirement. Cable Quickie has not only solved the issue but also reduced the measurement time to 1-2 seconds which helped us in meeting the target of measuring 100-150 samples in a day."

Manjunath Plant Head, Lapp India

"Our existing FOV based measuring systems had three major issues; a trained personnel was required to run it, the readings were always higher than the true values and automated concentricity calculation was missing. These led to inaccurate results and longer measurement times leading to sample pile-ups. Sipcon’s Cable Quickie solved these issues and costed us one-third the price of our existing measuring system."

Shailesh Patel Cable Div Head, ERDA

We needed insulation thickness measurements as per IEC 60811 and IS10810 guidelines for quality assurance purposes. Cable Quickie not only met that objective but also helps us calibrate our online measuring systems.
